So there was my dad as an influence, but also TV. Watching TV actually had influence me in a lot of ways. living in a small town in Ohio, it expose me to other ideals and customs. American Bandstand was the first show to influence what i listen too.
It introduce to me in third grade Adam and the Ants. Yes, I did have Adam and the Ants album in third grade, Kings of the Wild Frontier. See American Bandstand came on after saturday morning cartoons. Beside showing the latest dances, I saw a lot of great early 80's bands. How else could a third grader like Adam and the Ants. Of course his sexual lyrics went over my head, and my parents didn't seem to mind. If I remember correctly he was on more than once. I am convinced that listening to them, influence me greatly, from what music i like, to what guys i found attractive.
Then there was one week in 1981, on PM Cleveland. It was a week that Kidd Leo was focusing on the New Romantic scene in England, I remember seeing Duran Duran for the first time, Planet Earth. Once again, I fell in love with guys in makeup, the sound, the clothes. I also remember seeing Blondie on the TV, Heart of Glass was on the radio all the time, and they were on the TV all the time. I am pretty sure I also saw them on American Bandstand
